X8 Bus Route through Sculthorpe

News from County Councillor Dr Marie Strong

In future the X8 will pick up and drop off on the Sculthorpe side of the A148!

Sculthorpe residents told me of their concern in having to cross the main road (A148) to catch the bus travelling from Fakenham towards Kings Lynn.  The request was strongly supported by your parish councillors and so I set to work with the project.  It has taken time and effort – including physical labour on the part of your councillors ensuring the bus drivers will have clear visibility.  And after collaborative working between myself, your councillors, Norfolk County Council Transport officers and Norfolk Green we have a positive result. Please read the following and share the news with friends, family – and particularly students who use this bus:

START DATE Monday 16 February 2015

Norfolk Green will be utilising the triangle section (Turf Moor Road end) as both a pick up and drop off point for transport to and from Sculthorpe.

The proposal would result in buses travelling towards Fakenham stopping at the existing pick up point.  Buses travelling towards King’s Lynn would turn right onto the Street and then immediately turn left back towards the main A148. This would then require another right turn at this junction back on to the main road towards King’s Lynn.

Once the change commences it will be a trial run.  If found to be popular with residents it could be permanent and discussion can take place as to moving the bus shelterFor now all good wishes for a happy and healthy 2015
